The Creators

RON KAEHLER (Book and Lyrics) started his career as an actor and singer, first in his native Chicago and later in New York, where his credits ranged from Off-Broadway musicals to opera at Lincoln Center.  He began writing in the early 90s, and since then his songs and specialty material (often in collaboration with Albert Evans) have been sung in concert, cabaret, and recording studio by such performers as Bryan Batt, Charles Cermele, David Garrison, Alix Korey, Eddie Korbich, Marin Mazzie, and Jessica Molasky, among many others.  Recordings that feature his work include the “Best of Celebration of Life 1-5” and the Turtle Creek Chorale’s holiday CD, “Twisted Turtle Tinsel.” Other works for the stage include the musical farce Under the Overture and the play Stage Fright.  Television credits include a stint as executive story editor and writer for the children’s series Van-Pires, which enjoyed a healthy run in domestic and international syndication, and was awarded a Certificate for Excellence in Writing by the 31st Annual Film & Video Festival. Current projects include a musical screenplay called Once in a Blue Moon, written with songwriters Anne Bryant and Ellen Bernfeld. Ron is a member of the Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

ALBERT EVANS  (Music and Lyrics) wrote the music for the off-Broadway hit Pageant which, in addition to its many U.S. productions, has been performed in Australia and Japan, and has recently been published by Samuel French.  His lyrics are featured in New York City Opera’s new performing version of The Merry Widow, televised on “Live from Lincoln Center” (PBS).  He co-authored the score for the off-Broadway cult hit, Nite Club Confidential, which has been enjoyed by audiences in New York, Los Angeles, London, Boston and a score of other cities.  Mr. Evans is Composer-in-Residence at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse, where he has written lyrics for Mikado Inc., and music for Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.  His other scores include The Texas Chainsaw Musical, Five on the Isle, and Nothing to Lose.  As a keyboard player, he has performed around the nation with country music legend Eddy Arnold.  He has drawn on that experience and a lifelong love of country music to create the score for A Country Christmas Carol.
