The Affiliates

The MainStreet Affiliate – is the senior executive and representative of MainStreet Musicals in every local “affiliated” Festival city. The Affiliate is responsible for organizing all local MainStreet Festivals and Events.

The Affiliate also is responsible for recruiting a local staff of associates (the Affiliate Team) to help and participate in these activities.

  • The Primary Affiliate must be a member of Actors Equity Association and must adhere to the conditions of Equity's Members' Project Code, a copy of which will be provided by Equity or by Mainstreet. .
  • The Affiliate recruits and supervises all local personnel and is responsible for all local financial matters.

Contact Us indicating your interest in being an Affiliate.  We’ll help you get involved.

Recommendations are encouraged.  All applicants will be vetted by the MAINSTREET MUSICALS staff.

MAINSTREET can help to generate relationships with local organizations and will coordinate national press attention for events.

For positions in MainStreet’s local college programs, MainStreet will accept a enrolled college student who is approved by and working with a faculty advisor.

In a high school setting, a member of the school faculty may serve as Affiliate.

MAINSTREET’s core programs are designed and operated by professional actors and directors -- so those folks are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have a firm conviction that there are good new musicals out there that can and should be introduced and developed locally.  They must understand that it is important in a cultural sense to have a selection of new works regularly available locally to be performed and seen.

MainStreet’s programs focus on works in their "pre-development" phase.  A work enters the "development" phase when it acquires a producer or artistic director;  Development launches Production.  Normally, for professionals, stipend-fee for work in pre-development is based on “reimbursement of expenses."  That said, If MainStreet Festivals grow in popularity, they will grow into modest revenue producers.  And MainStreet is prepared for that.  Everyone has a say.

Pre-development's goal is the preservation of Culture and Art.  In general, Development work is recognized as an exercise in creativity for both artist and audience and so, one might surmise, Pre-development is almost always rewarding.  It is possible that, in the coming age,  through the collective involvement of industry and community, local live theater will gain power as a vital, popular, and relevant performing art form.
